What's Happening at Indian Hills This Month?
Alright guys, let's jump right into the action! This month is packed with opportunities to connect, grow, and serve here at Indian Hills. First up, we have our annual Summer Outreach Program, kicking off next Saturday! This is a fantastic initiative where we partner with local organizations to lend a helping hand to those in need within our community. We'll be organizing food drives, volunteering at homeless shelters, and offering support services. It's a powerful way to live out our faith by actively showing love and compassion to our neighbors. We're looking for volunteers of all ages and skill sets, so if you're looking for a way to make a tangible difference, sign up at the welcome desk or on our website. Next, mark your calendars for our special guest speaker series. This month, we're honored to host Dr. Evelyn Reed, a renowned theologian and author, who will be sharing her insights on navigating modern challenges with faith. Her sessions promise to be incredibly insightful and thought-provoking, offering practical wisdom for your daily life. We'll have sessions on Friday evening and Sunday morning, so be sure to check the schedule for exact times. Also, don't forget about our youth group's summer camp fundraiser. They're working hard to raise funds for their annual camp, which is always a highlight of the year for our teens. They'll be hosting a car wash this weekend and a bake sale next Sunday. Your support, whether by getting your car washed or buying some delicious treats, will directly contribute to an unforgettable experience for our young people. Finally, we're launching a new small group initiative focused on deepening our understanding of scripture through Bible study and fellowship. These groups will meet weekly in various locations, providing a more intimate setting for discussion and spiritual growth. Sign-up sheets are available, and we encourage everyone to consider joining a group that fits their schedule and interests. We truly believe that small groups are the heartbeat of our church, fostering genuine connections and providing a space for mutual encouragement. So, as you can see, there's a lot going on! We encourage you to get involved, connect with others, and experience the fullness of what Indian Hills has to offer. Don't miss out on these amazing opportunities to grow and serve!
A Word from Our Pastor
Grace and peace to you all! It's always a joy to share a few words with you through this newsletter. As we navigate the ebb and flow of life, I'm continually reminded of the steadfast love and faithfulness of God. Our theme for this month is 'Rooted in Hope,' and I believe it's a message we all need to hear. In a world that often feels chaotic and uncertain, finding our hope in Christ is paramount. The Apostle Paul, in his letter to the Romans, tells us in chapter 15, verse 13, that "the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit, you may abound in hope." This verse is a beautiful reminder that hope isn't just a fleeting feeling; it's a deep-seated assurance that comes from our relationship with God. It's about trusting in His promises, even when circumstances are challenging. I've seen firsthand how hope fuels resilience, enabling us to face adversity with courage and grace. Whether it's a personal struggle, a family crisis, or broader societal issues, our hope in Christ provides an anchor that keeps us grounded. This month, I want to encourage each of you to actively cultivate this hope. Engage in practices that nourish your spirit – spend time in prayer, read your Bible, connect with fellow believers, and serve others. Remember that you are not alone. Our church community is here to support you, to uplift you, and to walk alongside you. Let us be a people who are deeply rooted in hope, radiating God's love and peace to everyone we encounter. May you be filled with His joy and peace as you believe, and may the Holy Spirit empower you to abound in hope. Let this hope be the foundation upon which we build our lives and our church. Thank you for being such a vital part of the Indian Hills family. Blessings to you all.
Member Spotlight: The Smith Family
This month, we're shining a spotlight on one of our amazing families, the Smith family! John and Mary Smith, along with their two energetic kids, Emily and David, have been an integral part of Indian Hills for over five years. They're always the first to volunteer, the last to leave, and their infectious enthusiasm is truly inspiring. John, who heads up our welcoming committee, has a gift for making everyone feel like a VIP from the moment they step through our doors. He genuinely cares about connecting people and ensuring that newcomers feel embraced. Mary, on the other hand, is the creative force behind many of our children's ministry events. Her passion for teaching kids about Jesus in fun and engaging ways is evident in every craft, song, and story she shares. Emily, at 14, is a budding musician who often shares her talents during our worship services, her voice filling the sanctuary with praise. And David, our resident comedian at 10, is always ready with a joke and a helping hand, often seen assisting his dad with setting up chairs or handing out bulletins. The Smith family embodies the spirit of selfless service and community involvement that we cherish at Indian Hills. They remind us that faith is not just something we believe, but something we do. Their dedication to serving in various capacities, from leading small groups to organizing potlucks, demonstrates a deep commitment to their faith and to our church family. We're so grateful for their presence, their joy, and their unwavering support. Their story is a testament to the power of community and the impact that one family can have when they dedicate their lives to serving God and others. We're truly blessed to have them as part of our Indian Hills family, and we hope their story inspires you to find your own ways to contribute and connect.
